My running journey started two years ago, after being inspired by my two brothers. I used to run in School but stopped about ten years ago. My brothers were training together for triathlons and they inspired me to get back into it. Slowly, I started training on a regular basis with them. Soon after, we signed up for our first event together.
We completed the Gower triathlon and that was the start.
From there, I did Cardiff half for a mental health charity called Big Moose.
A week later, I broke my foot and sadly I had to have a few months off. During this time, I realised that I was so passionate about running and I had to recover quickly to get back out there.
Whilst I couldn’t train, me and my brothers signed up for our next event, a 50km Ultra marathon.
I was allowed to start running again in the February and the ultra was in July. It was a very slow process getting back to fitness for that event but slow and steady I got there. Running doesn’t come naturally so it took a lot of training and determination but I crossed the finish line with my brothers and loved every second.
That week, I came home and had the black envelope to say I was in for WhyWeRun 2.0.
250km ultra marathon over 5 days, things got scary and exciting.
WhyWeRun is the best thing I’ve ever done, it’s hard to explain the feeling you get from this event. It’s magic!
