Stephen Morris is a personal trainer who, at the age of 3, was diagnosed with autism and dyspraxia.
Through his school years Stephen lacked the confidence to chat and socialise with people because of bullying and his disabilities leading to a lack of self-esteem.
His parents gave Stephen opportunities to try different sports in football, rugby and athletics to help manage stress and develop more confidence about himself.
Finally he found running as a way to deal with stress from school.
While competing in running, people focused on his athletic ability rather than his disability which he loved, making him fell equal, like anybody else.
Stephen kept competing after his school days were over, competing all over the UK which he loved doing.
At 19 years old he discovered he could compete in the Paralympics in the T20 category.
That was his next running goal – to make the London 2012 Paralympic Games to represent Great Britain and 4 years later he achieved his goal.
After the London Paralympic games Stephen’s achievements include:
- Representing Great Britain 7 times
- First disability athlete to win the Gwent League Cross Country in 2019
- Participated in 2 Paralympic Games, in London 2012 and Rio 2016 Games
- Winning two Bronze medals as an able-bodied athlete in the Welsh Championships in 800m and 1500m finals
After attaining his goals Stephen decided to be a personal trainer and running coach helping people to achieve their goals, with their lifestyle and to achieve great things in the future!
Stephen is currently working as an personal trainer at Penarth Leisure Centre and has his own PT business based in Sport Wales National Centre gym.
