The Across Wales Walk is a 45 mile event open to runners and walkers alike. It follows a huge variety of terrain from open country to roads, from the Shropshire border, through the infrequently-visited valleys of rural Powys, to the summit of the highest mountain in mid-Wales – Plynlimon – at 752m, and ultimately to the beautiful coast of Cardigan Bay.
Runners are most welcome, and the fastest time on the current route, set by Denis Jolly in 2014, is 7h 51m. Entrants also ‘double’ the event, setting-off from the coast on the preceding day, arriving at the start in time to commence the return leg to the coast. For those seeking extreme challenges, sub-24h doubles, and continuous triple and quadruple crossings have been completed.
This linear event takes place over a full weekend with accommodation at both start and finish, coach transport and a presentation ceremony afterwards, all of which provide great opportunities to socialise and enjoy the company of many like-minded individuals. Accordingly, the event has an extremely loyal following, with many having completed twenty or even thirty editions.
Bookings for the 62nd edition open 1st May 2025 through SIEntries. Please book early to secure a place.
Race organiser Stuart Lamb will be at the show to give a presentation about the walk at 13:35 pm – 14:10 pm in Sophia Room 1.
