Originally from South Africa, Thia Malan has found a home and a happy running life on the Gower Peninsula for over a decade. She won her first half marathon in 1984 aged 11. The pressure to achieve that followed early success led to illness, injury and the loss of a running career. She rediscovered the joy of running and challenging herself in her forties. After completing several road marathons she fell in love with the trails and has since completed several ultra distances including the Northern Traverse (300km) and the Dragon’s Back Race (380km). As a coach, Thia aims to help others achieve their running goals, whilst remaining healthy and happy. Her approach is holistic with an emphasis on joy and fulfilment. Yoga practice has been transformational for her alongside her running journey. Since becoming a yoga teacher, she is now able to share this rewarding and varied practice with her clients.
